Training Center

On the base of the Institute there is Department of infectious diseases Tashkent Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education, which was organized in December 1939, on the recommendation of Professor N.I. Rogoza.

From the date of organization to 1951, the Chairman of department was by Professor A. Kacenovich and A. Segal. From 1951 to 1988, the department was headed by academician of the Academy of Sciences RUz, corresponding member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the Russian Federation, Professor Isak Kurbanovich Musabayev. In the period from 1988 to 2000 the departement was headed by the Doctor of medical sciences, Professor Dzhurabay Adylovich Adilov, from 2000 by now it is headed by MD, Professor Erkin Isakovich Musabayev. During their activities, the staff of the Department of Infectious Diseases studied the pathogenetic aspects of the disorders of various elements in many infectious diseases, which contributed to the correction of these disorders and allowed a more rapid recovery.

In the period 1975-1995, the Department was engaged in the scientific development of a course of viral hepatitis with a parenteral transmission mechanism in pregnant women. Since 1995, he has been dealing with chronic viral hepatitis B, C and Delta, treating and treating patients with HIV infection, and has been working on serious issues of meningitis.

Teaching and learning process. 12 cycles in all directions of infection pathology are conducted at the Chair. In connection with the deterioration of the epidemic situation of HIV infection, monthly cycle on HIV infection is organized, which has been held since 1995. It should be noted that for the last 2 years the Chair has been conducting "Hepatology" cycle for doctors specializing in infectious diseases doctors, physicians, surgeons, oncologists, ultrasound doctors, general practitioners, IDC. Doctors of this cycle receive information of instrumental Diagnostics of liver diseases (CT, MRI, ULTRASOUND, fibroscanning of liver, etc.) Over the last 5 years at the Chair more than 600 infectiologists have undergone advanced training.

Therapeutic process. Employees of the Chair of infectious diseases are directly involved in diagnostic and treatment work of the clinic of the Institute. Professorial-teaching staff of the Chair is scientific consultants of the clinic departments of SRI of Virology. Employees of the Department developed guidelines, used in the clinic work.

Foreign cooperation of the Chair. The Chair collaborates with the medical institutions of foreign countries (Institute of Virology named after D.I. Ivanovskiy of the Russian Academy of medical sciences, Flu Institute, CDC, United States) and with international organizations such as UNICEF, the Global Fund, USAID.

On November 14-15, 2024, in Tashkent, in the conference hall of the Intercontinental Hotel, the V-th Congress of Infectious Disease Specialists, Epidemiologists, Parasitologists, Microbiologists and Virologists of Uzbekistan “Lessons of the Pandemic and Prevention of New Threats” was held with international participation, organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health, the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Epidemiology, Microbiology, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, the Research Institute of Virology, Tashkent Medical Academy, Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute, with the support of WHO, KOICA, GIZ, CDC.

The purpose of the Congress: to unite the efforts of infectious disease doctors, epidemiologists, virologists and other specialists in solving urgent problems of combating infectious diseases, exchanging best practices in developing new approaches to the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases, expanding international cooperation.

The Congress was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Service for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, specialists from scientific and practical medical centers, the Medical Academy, infectious disease clinics, outpatient services, representatives of the media, as well as invited foreign specialists from Russian Federation, USA, People's Republic of China, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Germany, France, India, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and South Korea.

The speakers covered the most significant areas of infectious disease services in the world, as well as in the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the discussion, several key aspects were considered regarding the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as measures that can help avoid a recurrence. The breakout sessions discussed current issues of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of acute and chronic infections. The importance of an integrated approach to combating infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis, which require the integration of medical, social and educational measures for effective control of such situations in the future, was emphasized.

On May 3, 2024 and December 13, 2024, the seminars "Spring Hepatology School" were held for specialists of regional infectious disease hospitals and the city of Tashkent. on the topic - Implementation of diagnostic standards and treatment protocols for VHA and VHEV, as well as the "Winter Hepatology School" on the topic - Implementation of an improved electronic system for registration of chronic infectious liver diseases, organized by the Research Institute of Virology, the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Epidemiology and Hepatology, the Association of Hepatologists of Uzbekistan (120 specialists).

According to the approved schedule of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, employees of the Research Institute of Virology made monthly trips to the Namangan, Fergana, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, Andijan, Bukhara, Navoi, Tashkent regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan to provide methodological and practical assistance, as well as for the purpose of implementing the Standards of diagnosis, treatment and clinical protocols for infectious diseases approved by the Ministry (by order of the SSV No. 195 dated June 14, 2024) - 40 specialists went to the regions, more than 1,200 patients were examined:

The clinic and institute employees also make annual trips (June, July) along the air ambulance route in the Tashkent region and the Republic.

In early June 2025, Tashkent became the venue for one of the most significant events in the medical community of the region - the international scientific and practical conference "APASL-2025: International experience of national programs for the elimination of viral hepatitis". This event, organized within the framework of the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 243 dated May 16, 2022, brought together leading experts from around the world and became an important milestone in the development of national and regional programs to combat viral hepatitis.

The conference brought together about two hundred participants, among whom were not only representatives of the medical and scientific elite of Uzbekistan, but also authoritative experts from the USA, Spain, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, China, India, Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, the Philippines and Switzerland. Such a broad international representation not only emphasized the importance of the issues discussed, but also allowed us to look at the issues of diagnostics, prevention and treatment of viral hepatitis from different points of view, taking into account the national characteristics and experience of each country.

In order to implement the directive letter of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan 02-28/6932 dated March 27, 2025 and order No. 211 dated June 26, 2024 as part of the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 243 dated May 16, 2022, 12-hour training seminars were held on the topic: “Diagnosis and treatment of parenteral viral hepatitis in patients receiving hemodialysis and blood transfusion” in all regions of the Republic according to the approved schedule.
