Report on the visit of a 1st year student of Yale University to the Research Institute of Virology of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Epidemiology, Microbiology, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases.

Jin Hee Kim is a first-year graduate student in Global Health and Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases. The purpose of her visit to the Research Institute of Virology is to familiarize with the quality control organizations of the laboratory engaged in the diagnosis of infectious diseases.

On July 27, on the first day of Jin Ni Kim's visit, information was provided about the Institute of Virology, in particular about the Institute's introduction into practical healthcare of modern laboratory methods for diagnosing viral infections and conducting research on the quality of diagnostics and medicines;

Miss Kim was familiarized with the organization of the reference laboratory premises, with the organization of the process of testing for viral hepatitis, with the organization of collection and storage of clinical samples, which can then be used to prepare control panels for quality assessment. She was provided with general information on state and international projects carried out at the Institute in the field of monitoring the spread of infectious diseases.

On July 28, Miss Kim, together with the staff of the Virology Research Institute, participated in an event dedicated to the World Hepatitis Day, held on July 28, 2022 at the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Epidemiology, Microbiology, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases. Then Miss Kim was introduced to the work of the hepatitis elimination program in Uzbekistan - UHEP.

On July 29, Miss Kim met with the specialists of the Reference Laboratory.

In addition, Ms. Kim also conducted a small master class for the laboratory staff on the use of formulas and other features of the Excel program. Also, the laboratory staff was provided with educational materials on the Excel program.

On the day of Jin Hee Kim's visit, information was provided about the "Clinical trial of the recombinant vaccine ZF-UZ-VAC 2001 against SARS-CoV-2 in the Republic of Uzbekistan", in particular about the goals and objectives, research design, research process, results and achievements of the project.

Ms. Kim was familiarized with the organization of the laboratory premises, with the process of testing for SARS-CoV-2, with the organization of collection and storage of clinical samples, with the work of monitoring groups from the Center for Advanced Technologies.

Miss Kim was familiarized with the international multicenter clinical trial of the vaccine against SARS-CoV-2, the research and organizational work of scientists from the Research Institute of Virology and the Center for Advanced Technologies was highly appreciated by Chinese specialists and independent experts that they received co-authorship for the vaccine and the right to purchase on preferential terms, the production of recombinant vaccine was started for the first time in the Republic of Uzbekistan, timely The mass vaccination initiated in the Republic of Uzbekistan contributed to reducing the duration of the epidemic upsurge, reducing morbidity and mortality from COVID-19.
