V scientific and practical conference on the problem of infectious diseases organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Research Institute of Virology

On September 5 of this year, the V scientific and practical conference on the problem of infectious diseases was held in the large hall of the Tashkent Institute of Advanced Medical Studies in Tashkent. It was organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Research Institute of Virology.

It was attended by employees of the Ministry of Health, specialists from republican scientific centers, Tashkent city and regional centers of state sanitary and epidemiological surveillance (TsGSEN), infectious diseases clinics, hepatocenters, outpatient services, representatives of the media, as well as invited foreign specialists. The conference was opened with a welcoming speech by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the chief infectious disease specialist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Professor Musabaeva E.I.

The scientific and practical conference is devoted to the problems of the infectious disease service in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the strategy for combating hepatitis, influenza, HIV infection, etc. at the national level. The presentations and discussions focused on the epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infectious diseases. Within the framework of this session, leading domestic and foreign specialists from Uzbekistan, the USA, Japan, Egypt, Russia in particular Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, and the Republic of Belarus made presentations:

Each speaker in his presentation covered the most significant areas of infectious disease service in the world, as well as in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Currently, in the infectious disease service, in pursuance of orders and resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers and the resolution of the President of the Republic, active training and retraining of personnel for training and advanced training abroad and at the bases of the Tashkent Institute of Medical Sciences are underway.

In pursuance of PP-3729 dated 18.05.2019 "On measures to further improve the system of counteracting the spread of influenza and other acute respiratory infections in the Republic of Uzbekistan", the activities of the National Influenza Center at the Research Institute of Virology have been improved, including measures have been taken to ensure the conditions for recognition of the National Influenza Center by the World Health Organization. An application has been submitted to equip the intensive care units of specialized hospitals for the treatment of patients with severe forms of acute respiratory infections. Taking into account the needs of specialized regional hospitals for medical equipment for the treatment of SARI patients, the list of necessary equipment has been sent to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Research work on the REZEDA project "Prevention of the spread of HIV strains resistant to antiretroviral therapy in recipient countries" is ongoing.

This project provides for the development of scientific and medical ties between institutions and specialists of the participating countries, strengthening the unified system for combating the spread of HIV / AIDS and other infectious diseases. As part of joint scientific research, it is planned to train specialists, supply reagents and provide other assistance to partner countries.

Currently, all regional hepatitis centers of the republic and the city of Tashkent have issued direct-acting antiviral drugs for 5,000 patients with chronic hepatitis C. In June, another tender was held for the purchase of antiviral drugs to further meet the need for these drugs.

A joint grant was signed with the Republic of Korea for screening 50,000 women for cervical cancer, which will begin in January 2020.

In order to provide highly qualified assistance to the population in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic viral hepatitis, a teleconference was established at the Research Institute of Virology with the leading BLK hospital (India).
