- A press conference dedicated to the prevention of cancer in women was held in the Samarkand region.
A press conference dedicated to the prevention of cancer in women was held in the Samarkand region.
On July 22, the Samarkand Regional Health Department, the Virology Research Institute, the South Korean KOFIH Foundation, and the Republican Sanitary and Epidemiological Service and Public Health organized a press conference on the topic "Issues of Improving Research and Diagnosis of the Spread of Human Papillomavirus Among the Population in the Regions."
The conference was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health, the KOFIH Foundation of South Korea, the Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Service, employees of the Samarkand Regional Administration, doctors from the scientific center, infectious disease hospitals and the media.
According to WHO, every year more than 604 thousand women worldwide are diagnosed with cervical cancer for the first time, of which 342 thousand die as a result of this disease.
At the press conference, it was noted that, as in the rest of the world, cervical cancer in Uzbekistan is the most common and most widespread disease after cancer breast cancer among women of all ages. In terms of mortality from diseases, cervical cancer is in third place among women of all ages after death from breast and stomach cancer, and among women of childbearing age (15-44 years), mortality from uterine cancer is in second place.
According to Globocan, 1,863 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year in Uzbekistan, more than 42 percent of them die. Most of these deaths occur as a result of late diagnosis. The main (98-99 percent) cause of cervical cancer is the human papillomavirus (HPV).
Cervical cancer is a dangerous and common disease that occurs in women of any age. Exacerbation of the disease occurs at the age of 45-55 years.
The causes of cervical cancer are human papillomaviruses, sexually transmitted infections. Usually, the viruses "leave" the body after 2-3 years. Long-term presence of the virus in the uterus can lead to the development of cancer. Cervical cancer is the only type of cancer that can be completely prevented. It develops gradually. The development of cancer is caused by diseases that caused cancer. They have enough time to diagnose and treat them.
By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 2866 dated April 4, 2017, the program "Further development of the oncological service in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2017-2021 and improvement of the provision of oncological care to the population" was approved. In this program, monitoring of the epidemiological situation is established by conducting examinations of the profile and OPV of oncological diseases, the formation of a single database (Oncology Registry) of patients with oncological diseases, and the development of effective cancer profile programs.
In order to monitor the epidemiological situation, in cooperation with the Institute of Virology and the South Korean KOFIH Foundation, it is planned to implement an investment pilot project on the topic "Detection of the human papillomavirus in the regions of the Republic, including the city Tashkent, Samarkand and Andijan regions among women", and this project will be implemented within 3 years. The main objective of the project is to study the significance of the second factor of cancer, namely HPV, by determining the percentage of prevalence among women with high levels of oncogenic types of HPV among women with fertility through early detection of diseases in which the human papillomavirus is transmitted.
The following results are expected from this pilot project, implemented in our republic:
* For the first time, the spread of OPV in Uzbekistan is being studied on a national scale.
- 3 special laboratories will be created to test OPV.
- A system for early diagnosis of OPV and cervical cancer has been created.
- World-class standards for the detection, prevention and treatment of OPV will be developed, and practical applications will be developed.
- As a result of early diagnosis and treatment of OPV, morbidity and mortality from cervical cancer are reduced.
