VI Department of Intensive Care of the Clinic of the Research Institute of Virology

The intensive care unit is a structural subdivision of the clinic, and, according to existing regulatory documents, belongs to the 2nd level for the provision of resuscitation care.

The intensive care unit provides emergency medical care, conducting a complex of intensive care for patients of various profiles.

The main task of the department is to provide specialized care to patients with viral liver disease, carrying out measures to restore and maintain the functions of vital organs and systems.

The main areas of work of the department:

• Decompensated liver pathology
• Acute liver failure

The main methods of treatment used in the intensive care unit:

• Maintaining adequate hemodynamics
• Restoring and maintaining normal fluid balance, electrolytes, acid-base balance
• Management of metabolic disorders
• Antibacterial therapy
• Parenteral and enteral nutrition.

The department's doctors are highly qualified specialists who have specialized in intensive care to provide assistance to patients. Work in the department is carried out in close cooperation with the medical and diagnostic departments of the institute. Patients undergo examinations around the clock, which are necessary for diagnosis and provision of qualified assistance.

Morning rounds are held daily with the participation of the chief physician, deputy chief physician, head of the department, and attending physicians.

Intensive therapy and observation (monitoring) of patients with liver cirrhosis of viral etiology is carried out. To ensure its operation, the intensive care unit is equipped with: modern high-tech special equipment and apparatus, necessary medications and specially equipped premises for carrying out the necessary activities.
