Annual seasonal increases in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections, their complications determine their high medical and social significance. ARVI is a group of respiratory diseases caused by viruses tropic to the respiratory epithelium. ARVI includes such diseases as influenza, respiratory syncytial, rhinovirus, adenovirus, bocavirus, metapneumovirus, parainfluenza infection and other infections that cause catarrhal inflammation of the respiratory tract.
In connection with the globalization of processes on the planet, new and re-emerging infections have become an international problem and are recognized as a priority health problem in all countries of the world. New and re-emerging infections include diseases that have recently emerged among the population, either existed earlier, but significantly increased the growth of diseases, or appeared in a new geographic region for them. Currently, such diseases include more than 100 nosological forms. Natural focal diseases, carriers and vectors of which are an integral part of ecosystems, are of particular interest today.
The Department of respiratory, new and re-emerging viral infections is studying the features of the etiology and diagnosis of ARVI and new and re-emerging viral infections.
